As you arrive in Ferragudo your eyes will roam to the top of the hill and then will follow the cobbled or "calcada portuguesa" winding lanes filled with beautiful white washed houses, down into the very typical village square, edged by cafes, restaurants, shops and bars mostly ran by local people. A short walk takes you to the renowned fish restaurants including the famous "Sueste Restaurant" situated on the harbour overlooking the river Arade over to Portimao.

There are some beautiful safe beaches in Ferragudo the main one bieng the "Praia Grande" a very wide and sandy with a choice of snack bars and restaurants and also a children's play area, toilets and showers. Travel a few km or so to Canerios beach a secluded little bay with an absolute top class fish restaurant. We are truly spoilt for choice all along the Algarve coast for choice of beaches.

On the subject of being spoiled we must now talk about the wonderful and numerous golf courses available all along the Algarve, such as the famous" Amendoeira Faldo" course in Silves designed by Nick Faldo covering 6,604 meters being a 18 hole par 72 Championship course, and this is just one among many in fact over thirty more along the Algarve. For the ladies if they are not interested in golf then there are some great shopping centres. The "Algarve shopping" centre in Guia is probably one of the best and just a twenty minute drive away from Ferragudo with an array of designer and every day shops, cafes, restaurants and an exceptional entertainment's centre with cinema bowling and arcades.

Now for all of us that need to be able to keep the children entertained there are many attractions here to list but a few; Zoo Marine Albufeira a mixture of marine centre, zoo and amusement park with aquatic displays of dolphins and sea lions, you can even live out a dream of swimming with the dolphins for an additional fee. A day can be spent quite easily. Aqualand near Alcantarilha on the main EN125 a family water park with some great rides. Slide and Splash 5 minutes past Lagoa again a great family day out with loads of brilliant rides and slides, also a large swimming pool with Jacuzzi. Karting an attraction for all ages including big kids! this is situated in Almancil. Pera Sand Sculpters are well worth a visit, each year there is a new theme and forty plus world famous sculptures come together to create a fantastic display, this is also worth visiting in the evening as when lit up it creates a magical ambiance.

Along with the above mentioned there is horse riding available in numerous areas, fishing and water sports including wind surfing. For the older kids looking for some night life there is the lively resort of "Praia Da Rocha" which is only a short water taxi ride from Ferragudo or a short road drive, Albufeira and Vilamoura are a couple more livelier resorts.
